Instructor

Mr. Shahin Farid-Tazekand holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Production Engineering from the Petroleum University of Technology (PUT), Ahvaz, Iran, and currently serves as a Researcher and Elite Conscript (Soldier of Excellence) under the Ministry of Petroleum of Iran.
With over five years of specialized experience in Well Test Analysis, production optimization, and hydraulic fracturing operations, he has developed a strong technical foundation in pressure transient interpretation, reservoir performance analysis, and fluid characterization. He has served as a Well Test Analysis instructor at the Petroleum University of Technology alongside Dr. Bahram Soltani Soulgani, where he has trained numerous petroleum engineering students and young professionals in advanced interpretation techniques and practical data analysis.
His primary research interests lie in the development of novel chemical additives and friction reducers for drilling and fracturing fluids, with a focus on smart nanocomposite polymers (MNS-PAAM) capable of maintaining performance under high-temperature and high-salinity reservoir conditions. His M.Sc. thesis, titled “Synthesis and Evaluation of a Novel Additive for Frictional
Pressure Drop Reduction in Hydraulic Fracturing Operations,” was awarded the highest distinction.
Mr. Farid-Tazekand has actively contributed to several industrial and research projects under the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), particularly in the fields of hydraulic fracturing, acid fracturing, and polymer–surfactant fluid design. His current research focuses on the optimization and performance evaluation of next-generation stimulation fluids aimed at improving efficiency in unconventional reservoir operations.
He possesses extensive laboratory experience in rheological testing, proppant suspension stability assessment, and friction reduction performance evaluation. His technical expertise is complemented by practical field-oriented insights gained through both academic and industrial collaborations.
In addition to his technical work, he has published a peer-reviewed article titled “Perspective Review of Friction Reducers as Additives in Water-Based Fracturing Fluids,” in the Journal of Molecular Liquids (2025).
Throughout his career, Mr. Farid-Tazekand has combined experimental innovation with analytical expertise, bridging the gap between laboratory research and field-scale petroleum engineering applications. His professional vision is centered on advancing fracturing fluid technologies, well test interpretation, and sustainable reservoir stimulation methods through applied research, technical education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This course is designed for petroleum, production, process, design, and drilling engineers, as well as operators, technicians, and field managers who are involved in well testing and reservoir evaluation. It is suitable for participants with an intermediate level of experience in petroleum engineering or related disciplines.
